Why to Pursue an Internship
By Rebecca E. Glawe
However, the ability to land an internship and stay competitive in today's job market isn't so easy. In fact, finding internships is much like finding real-world employment. And, most colleges do not require an internship to graduate; therefore, it is up to you, the student, to take the initiative to do the research yourself.
The problem finding an internship for most students is lack of time to do the research and/or lack of knowledge about how to research and interview for competitive internship positions. So, where do you begin your search, and when do you have the time to do so? The library? Career center? Between classes? Sure, if you know what to look for and have the time to do it...
As an educational consultant in college admissions/financial aid and a former educator with 10 years of experience, I can do the internship research and coaching for you. I work to supply you with all the essential information you need to land an internship. I will not guarantee you an internship - that is up to you. But I will give you all the proper tools to make you a strong competitor in today's job market.
