Andersen Consulting Eyeing Partial IPO

MIAMI, Oct. 14, 2000 (SmartPros) At its partner annual meeting here, Andersen Consulting said it would investigate a partial initial public offering to help it move forward plans to expand its services more quickly.

"We will investigate whether a partial public offering will help us accelerate our strategy while preserving the best qualities of our partnership and the vital entrepreneurial spirit that have made our firm successful," said Joe W. Forehand, managing partner and chief executive.

The firm, which could not be reached for comment, didn't say how much money it would look to raise in the offering.

Andersen, which recently underwent a messy split from sister accounting firm Arthur Andersen, is the latest of the Big Five consultancies to test the IPO waters. KPMG plans to offer some 367 million shares of stock in its consulting arm IPO.
