ACCA Opens Rulemaking Meetings to Public LONODN, Feb. 13, 2001 (AccountancyMagazine.com) The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants has decided to open up its London council meetings to the general public. With effect from March 1, the date of the first of this year's London sessions, the accounting body will allow the public to attend the meetings in which regulatory matters are discussed. It says this decision is in line with its commitment to corporate governance best practice. The ACCA has admitted the public to its regulatory and disciplinary committee meetings for some time; however, this is the first time it has held open sessions within its council meetings. The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales has allowed the public into parts of its council and committee meetings since the early 90s. The agendas of the open part of the ACCA's meetings will be available on the body's Web site, www.acca.co.uk. Send comments to information@smartpros.com. Copyright 2001 AccountancyMagazine.com.
