Becker Conviser Acquires CFA Exam Prep Vendor

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill., Feb. 13, 2001 (SmartPros) In an effort to broaden its scope beyond CPA exam preparation, DeVry Inc. subsidiary Becker Conviser Professional Review has acquired Argentum Inc., a developer and marketer of exam preparation materials for the Chartered Financial Analyst credential.

Terms of the cash transaction were not disclosed. Argentum, which does business as Stalla Seminars, offers three-day review seminars in 16 cities worldwide, as well as CFA review study guides, workbooks and videotapes. Stalla is based in Westlake, Ohio.

"Exam preparation in finance-related areas is a natural progression for Becker as it broadens its scope, and the acquisition of Stalla Seminars will provide us with a strong base in the CFA market," said Dennis J. Keller, DeVry Inc. chairman and chief executive.
