XBRL-U.S. to Host Panels, Training Sessions

Aug. 25, 2005 (SmartPros) XBRL-U.S. will host a series of eight sessions nationwide to educate and train investor relations and financial professionals on the benefits and use of XBRL, the organization announced.

The eight sessions will take place throughout the months of September and October in New York, Dallas, San Francisco and Chicago. The first four will be geared towards creating awareness of XBRL in the investor relations community, followed by four additional preparer training sessions demonstrating how to create XBRL documents.

The free Awareness Sessions will cover XBRL, the Securities and Exchange Commission's Voluntary Filing Program for XBRL, and how XBRL can be beneficial for both external and internal corporate reporting. Events held in New York and San Francisco will be Webcast for those unable to attend in person.

Preparer Training Sessions are $200 and will provide hands-on practice in creating XBRL documents and allow registrants to sample the software tools available in the marketplace so that they can understand the process and the tools to prepare their own financial reports in XBRL.
